Students at Koumala State School are encouraged to wear the school uniform according to the school student dress code because it:
· promotes a safe environment for learning by enabling ready identification of students and non-students of the school;
· promotes an effective teaching and learning environment by eliminating the distraction of competition in dress and fashion at the school;
· promotes a supportive environment at the school by fostering a sense of belonging; and
· fosters mutual respect among individuals at the school by minimising visible evidence of economic, class or social differences.
The official school uniform is a blue Koumala shirt and navy blue skirts for girls and a blue Koumala shirt and navy blue shorts for boys. Girls are permitted to wear bike pants under the skirt or to wear shorts instead of the skirt. The uniform includes shoes and socks and a wide-brimmed hat. Shoes need to enclose the toes (No sandals/thongs) for safety reasons.
The blue Koumala shirts and wide-brimmed hats are available from the Tuckshop on Mondays and Fridays. Skirts, and shorts are available from most clothing stores. A winter order form is sent home towards the end of Term 1. No additional winter stock is held by the school. Uniform pricelist (PDF, 1582kb)
