Our school

State School is located twenty-two kilometres south of Sarina on the Bruce Highway in the township of Koumala. The school opened at its present location in August 1923. The school boasts extensive grounds surrounded by bush and cane farms. The school is situated on the corner of Bull Street and the main building, Block A, houses the P/1 room, tuckshop, learning support room, archive storeroom and cleaner’s storeroom on the ground floor. Upstairs accommodates two teaching areas, ICT Laboratory, staffroom, administration area and resources storeroom.

A new double teaching block, Block B, built in April 1995, houses 2 classrooms. Our Resource Centre opened it's doors in 2010. This building accommodates our library and is utilised by visiting teachers and performances. Our weekly parade is also conducted under the covered area.
Other structures include two covered play areas, toilet block, various sheds, multisports court and playground equipment.
At present Koumala State School is staffed by seven full and part-time teachers and one teaching principal. The school also has four teacher aides, one cleaner and one administrative assistant.  Visiting teachers include Support Teacher (Learning Difficulties), Languages Other Than English (LOTE), Guidance Officer, Religious Instruction, Music, PE Chaplain and a variety of Education Advisors.
